Patient Information

Virtual Derm Clinic provides secure virtual skin care assessments for Alberta residents. Our goal is to make it easier to access physician-led care for common skin concerns.

Virtual Derm Clinic is not intended for medical emergencies. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.

How It Works

1. Submit your information

Complete a short online intake form with your contact information and skin concern.

2. Our team reviews your intake

Our team reviews your submission and coordinates the next steps in your assessment.

3. Secure clinical information

If photos or additional medical information are required, they will be collected through secure clinical systems.

4. Physician assessment

Your concern is assessed by a licensed Alberta physician experienced in skin care.

Who Can Use This Service?

Virtual Derm Clinic is designed for Alberta residents seeking assessment of common skin concerns through a secure virtual care process.

  • You must be located in Alberta at the time of care.
  • You may be asked to provide Alberta Health Care information where applicable.
  • Some concerns may require in-person assessment, urgent care, or referral to another provider.

Appropriate Skin Concerns

Virtual care may be appropriate for many common skin concerns. However, not every condition can be safely assessed virtually. A physician will determine whether virtual care is appropriate based on the information provided.

Prescriptions, Referrals & Follow-Up

When clinically appropriate, the physician may provide treatment recommendations, prescriptions, referrals, or follow-up instructions. Some patients may be advised to seek in-person assessment or urgent care depending on the nature of their concern.

Important Limitations

  • Submitting an intake form does not guarantee treatment.
  • Submitting information does not immediately establish a physician-patient relationship.
  • Virtual assessment may not replace an in-person examination when one is medically necessary.
  • Emergency or rapidly worsening concerns should be assessed urgently in person.
